ATREC (Act for Responsible Tourism in Cameroon)
ATREC was founded in 2023 by Jordan AMBANG, also founder and manager of Dyscova. Since its creation, the association has initiated several projects aimed at raising awareness among tourists and local communities about responsible tourism practices.
ATREC was born in a context where tourism had a negative impact on the territories. Travelers degraded tourist sites by their physical presence, and local communities saw their sites deteriorate without benefiting from it. This situation went against the objectives of the National Development Strategy 2030 (NDS30) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ATREC was created to raise awareness among all stakeholders about responsible tourism and promote tourism that is beneficial for all: travel operators, travelers, and especially indigenous populations.
ATREC organized two editions of the Solidarity Hikes, aimed at collecting donations to support education in remote tourist areas. These actions raised awareness among more than 2,000 participants and raised significant funds for educational projects.
ONE
